Childcare voucher scheme closes to new entrants on 4 October
Article posted: 4th September 2018
As the nights draw in earlier and children are going back to school, a timely reminder that childcare voucher schemes will close to new entrants on 4 October 2018.
From this date onwards, eligible parents will instead need to use the government’s new tax-free childcare (TFC) scheme. This allows new entrants to deposit funds into an account on the HMRC website, with the government contributing up to £2,000 per child per year. It’s the equivalent of £2 ‘free’ for every £8 ‘saved’ by the parent(s).
The original April deadline was pushed back to October following a Commons debate in March
