McBrides & Friends 10k Hospice Hike
Article posted: 11th August 2017
There are just weeks to go now before the team at McBrides set out on their Hospice Hike in aid of the Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.
The 10km route will wend its way from the McBrides office on Cray Road to the Hospice in Abbey Wood.
You won’t be able to miss the team as they’ll be pushing wheelbarrows full of plants!
The team chose plants as the focal point of their fundraising drive as the Hospice itself is set in beautiful grounds in the middle of the woods, with lovely outdoor spaces for patients and their families to use.
McBrides selected the Hospice as their nominated charity for 2017 and have completed a series of fund-raising events including Mark Grady’s NightRider cycle ride through London and Nicola Thorne, Claire Hall and Liz Cross’s Colour Run in Danson Park at the start of July.
The Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice needs to raise £8million a year to provide support and services to local people. Essential funds go towards providing care and support for families in the Borough and so funding for outdoor spaces is hard to come by.
The Hospice’s grounds are gardened by volunteers who give up their own time to create a treaured environment. McBrides hope that the plants they deliver will add to the beauty of the gardens and enrich the lives of the patients, their families and staff.
The Hospice Hike team will leave McBrides offices on the Cray Road on Wednesday 13th September and hope that their planned 10km walk to the Hospice will provide the biggest commitment and contribution by the firm to the Hospice so far.
